Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS)
£500 per socket for businesses, charities and the public sector installing EV chargers for staff and fleets, up to 40 sockets. Eligibility and how the voucher works.
What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a government grant that helps organisations install EV chargepoints for staff and fleets — our full guide to how the WCS works unpacks it in detail. It provides a voucher worth £500 per socket (raised from £350 on 1 April 2026), covering 75% of the combined cost of buying and installing chargepoints, for up to 40 sockets across all of an applicant’s sites (a maximum of £20,000). It is funded until at least 31 March 2027.
Who can apply?
The scheme is open to:
- Registered businesses
- Charities
- Public-sector organisations (state-funded schools, colleges and nurseries qualify for an enhanced education rate)
You’ll need dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet use, and a genuine or anticipated need for charging.
How the voucher works
Unlike the home chargepoint grant, the WCS is voucher-based:
- Apply online for a WCS voucher.
- Choose an OZEV-authorised installer.
- The installer redeems the voucher against your installation, deducting the grant from your bill.
The voucher is time-limited once issued, so it’s worth lining up your installer before you apply — our step-by-step WCS claim walkthrough covers the whole process.
Evova is an independent directory and knowledge hub. We do not administer or claim grants, and we are not an installer. The voucher is redeemed for you by an OZEV-authorised installer, and you can find one in our directory.
Grant amounts and rules are set by the government and can change. Always confirm the current terms on the GOV.UK source before you commit.
