Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions
Up to £2,000 per socket for state-funded schools, colleges and nurseries installing EV chargers, across up to 40 sockets. Eligibility and how the voucher works.
What is this grant?
This is an enhanced version of the Workplace Charging Scheme for state-funded education institutions, such as schools, colleges and nurseries. It provides a voucher of up to £2,000 per socket, for up to 40 sockets, a higher rate than the standard WCS, reflecting the value of charging at education sites. It is funded until at least 31 March 2027.
Vouchers issued before 1 April 2026 remain valid at the previous higher rate of up to £2,500 per socket.
Who is eligible?
The scheme is open to state-funded education institutions with dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet use. Work must be carried out by an OZEV-authorised installer.
How the voucher works
Like the main WCS, this is voucher-based:
- Apply online for a voucher.
- Choose an OZEV-authorised installer.
- The installer redeems the voucher against your installation, deducting the grant from your bill.
The voucher is time-limited once issued, so line up your installer before you apply.
Evova is an independent directory and knowledge hub. We do not administer or claim grants, and we are not an installer. The voucher is redeemed for you by an OZEV-authorised installer, and you can find one in our directory.
Grant amounts and rules are set by the government and can change. Always confirm the current terms on the GOV.UK source before you commit.
