EV Chargepoint Grant for renters and flat owners
Up to £500 off a home EV charger for renters and flat owners with off-street parking. Eligibility, the socket cap, and how to claim it via an authorised installer.
What is this grant?
This is the part of the government’s EV Chargepoint Grant aimed at people who rent their home or own a flat. It covers 75% of the combined cost of buying and installing a home chargepoint, up to £500 per socket, with a cap of one socket per applicant. It is funded until at least 31 March 2027.
It exists because the earlier grant for owner-occupiers of houses with a driveway has closed. The funding now targets households that previously found it harder to get support: people renting their home and flat owners.
Who is eligible?
To qualify you generally need to:
- Rent your home (any residential property), or own and occupy a flat
- Have private off-street parking at the property (if you only have on-street parking, there’s a dedicated on-street parking grant)
- Have an eligible electric vehicle, or one on order
- Use an OZEV-authorised installer
How much could you save?
The grant pays 75% of your total cost up to the £500 cap, so the exact figure depends on the quote:
- On an £800 install, 75% is £600, so you receive the £500 maximum.
- On a £600 install, 75% is £450, so you receive £450.
How to claim it
You don’t claim this yourself. You choose an OZEV-authorised installer, who applies for the grant on your behalf and deducts it from your bill, so you simply pay the reduced amount. They’ll confirm your eligibility and tell you which documents are needed before the work is booked.
Evova is an independent directory and knowledge hub. We do not administer or claim grants, and we are not an installer. Grants are claimed for you by an OZEV-authorised installer, and you can find one in our directory.
Grant amounts and rules are set by the government and can change. Always confirm the current terms on the GOV.UK source before you commit.
