EV Chargepoint Grant for households with on-street parking

Up to £500 towards a home EV charger for households that only have on-street parking, using a cross-pavement solution. Eligibility and how to claim it.

What is this grant?

This is the part of the government’s EV Chargepoint Grant for households that only have on-street parking, with no driveway or private off-street space. It’s worth up to £500 per socket (75% of the combined cost), capped at one socket per applicant, and is funded until at least 31 March 2027.

Because there’s no off-street space, this route is designed to be used with a cross-pavement solution, typically a charging gully set into the pavement so the cable can run across it safely.

Who is eligible?

To qualify you generally need to:

  • Own or rent the property
  • Have only on-street parking (no private off-street parking)
  • Install a cross-pavement solution (e.g. a charging gully)
  • Have an eligible electric vehicle, or one on order
  • Use an OZEV-authorised installer

A note on cross-pavement charging

Running a cable across a public pavement normally needs permission from your local council. Councils have different policies and approved products, so it’s worth checking what your authority allows. An authorised installer can advise on suitable cross-pavement products and help with the council side, and our guide to EV charging without a driveway walks through the options in more detail.

How to claim it

You don’t claim this yourself. An OZEV-authorised installer applies for the grant on your behalf and deducts it from your bill, so you pay the reduced amount.

Evova is an independent directory and knowledge hub. We do not administer or claim grants, and we are not an installer. Grants are claimed for you by an OZEV-authorised installer, and you can find one in our directory.

Grant amounts and rules are set by the government and can change. Always confirm the current terms on the GOV.UK source before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a grant if I only have on-street parking?
Yes. There's a dedicated route within the EV Chargepoint Grant for households with only on-street parking, worth up to £500 per socket. It's intended to be used with a cross-pavement solution, such as a charging gully, so the cable can run safely across the pavement.
What is a cross-pavement solution?
It's a way of running a charging cable across the pavement safely, typically a channel or 'gully' set into the path so cables aren't a trip hazard. These usually need permission from your local council, which an authorised installer can help you arrange.
How do I claim the on-street parking grant?
An OZEV-authorised installer applies for the grant on your behalf and deducts it from your bill. Evova does not administer grants. You can use our directory to find an authorised installer.
