Indra Smart PRO
A British-built 7.4kW smart charger with native Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime integration.
£899–£999 installed checked July 2026

Who the Indra Smart PRO suits
If you’re an OVO Charge Anytime customer, the Smart PRO is close to the default choice: OVO sells this exact unit from £999 installed, ready for Charge Anytime from day one. It’s also natively compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go (live since January 2025 — you link the charger inside the Octopus app), and Indra says its tariff engine works with thousands of UK electricity tariffs beyond those two. Add genuine solar surplus matching via a CT clamp, and the fact that Indra designs and builds its chargers in Malvern, Worcestershire, and this is a strong all-rounder for smart-tariff drivers who’d rather buy British.
Key features
- 7.4kW single-phase charging with variable output up to 32A.
- Native smart-tariff integration with Intelligent Octopus Go and OVO Charge Anytime; the tariff engine supports thousands of other UK tariffs at scheduling level.
- Solar Mode uses a CT clamp on your meter tails: charging starts once sustained export tops 1.4kW (the minimum any EV will accept) and then tracks your surplus up to 7.4kW.
- Built-in PEN fault protection (Indra’s PEST system) plus 6mA DC leakage detection, so an earth rod isn’t normally required.
- Load curtailment monitors your whole supply through the same CT clamp and throttles the charger rather than tripping the main fuse — the same principle as load management in homes with heat pumps.
- IP65, IK10-rated polycarbonate enclosure with a -20°C to 50°C operating range.
- Boost button on the unit as well as in the Indra app, for an immediate full-power charge.
- Tethered or untethered: a Type 2 socket, or a fixed lead in 6m or 9.4m.
What to check before you buy
- Tethered or untethered? The socket version is tidier; the tethered lead comes in 6m or 9.4m. See how tethered and untethered compare.
- Connectivity is Wi-Fi only as standard. 4G and Ethernet are optional extras, so check the signal where the charger will be mounted before your install.
- No vehicle-to-home. Indra pioneered V2H, but that’s a separate CHAdeMO unit restricted to a now-closed trial; the Smart PRO is a one-way AC charger.
- Shop around on the install. Indra quotes from £899 fully installed direct for a standard job, while OVO’s package starts at £999; retailer packages generally land between the two (prices checked July 2026).
- Status lights, not a screen. The unit shows a simple LED panel; detailed charging history and costs live in the app.
Evova doesn’t sell chargers. If you live in a flat or rented home, check whether a grant could part-fund the work, then find a home charger installer to survey your supply and fit the unit.
