Where the myenergi Zappi wins

Solar. The Zappi’s eco and eco+ modes divert surplus generation into your car — full solar diversion, where both Ohme units offer only assisted solar and neither can charge purely from your panels’ excess. If self-consuming your own generation is the goal, the Zappi is the benchmark.

It’s also the more configurable unit: tethered or untethered, 7kW single-phase or 22kW three-phase, with both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. And it acts as the hub for the wider myenergi ecosystem, so a home battery or immersion diverter can join the same system later. On tariffs it isn’t empty-handed — it integrates with OVO Charge Anytime — but that is its only listed integration.

Where the Ohme wins

Intelligent Octopus Go, natively, on both units. The Home Pro (from £999 installed) is tethered with a 5m cable and an on-unit screen showing charging status and cost; the ePod (£409 unit, from £949 installed) is a compact untethered alternative and one of the lower-cost OZEV-listed smart chargers. Either way, charging lands automatically in the cheapest slots with no manual scheduling.

Ohme’s pricing is also simpler to weigh up: a single from-figure per unit against the Zappi’s £800–£1,500 spread. What no Ohme does is solar diversion — assisted is the ceiling, so PV owners lose the ability to charge from their surplus.

The deciding factors

Price. The Zappi starts at £779 for the unit and £800–£1,500 installed. The Ohme ePod is from £949 installed and the Home Pro from £999 — both inside the Zappi’s range, so cost rarely settles this on its own.

Warranty. No separation: all three chargers carry 3 years, and all three are grant eligible.

Solar or tariff. This is the real decision. Panels, or firm plans for them, point to the Zappi — it is the only one of the three with full solar diversion. Intelligent Octopus Go without panels points to an Ohme, because the Zappi’s tariff support stops at OVO Charge Anytime. If you have both, the Zappi keeps the capability no Ohme can add, at the cost of native Octopus scheduling.
